Situated in Durban, South Africa, Freedivers is located in the heart of diving country. Everyday our gear is put to the test along the wild, warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Shane started diving in 1990. His dissatisfaction with the local products led to the birth of the Freedivers brand in 1997. From its inception his ambition and goal was to create quality Spearfishing equipment that would stand up to the harshest diving conditions in the world.

The journey began with the development of the patented integrated rail system which was conceived with the intention of improving the accuracy and silencing the gun as it was fired. This was closely followed by the development of the Freedivers pistol grip with its seamless trigger mechanism, and then the creation of the Freedivers range of high tensile 2100 mpa spring steel spears.

Conceptualisation, tool making, manufacturing, final testing, quality checks, sales and marketing are all done locally which ensure ongoing quality and reliability.

Freedivers has been a major force behind the growth of Spearfishing in the South African market. Winner of 10 out of 13 national titles and with countless South African National divers supporting the brand its reputation is indisputable
